Panskura is one of the important places of Purba Medinipur district.It is adjacent to the Paschim Medinipur district. The people of [panskura are primarily Bengali-speaking Hindus. There are some lingering effects of successive migrations and invasions from both the west, east, and especially from northern India . Its history shows the complex combination of indigenous, Buddhist, Jain and Hindu cultures, through trade, travel, and migration. There is an also a sizable Muslim community. Unlike other parts of Bengal, Panskura was always well connected with the Gangetic plains. Panskura Rail station is the lifeline of this place which is a junction station of south eastern railway. ==characteristics== Main characteristics of this place is high population density. Here a large section of the population are farmers. Vegetables produced by farmers come to Panskura Bazaar. It is a large wholesale market where every day a lot of trading is done. Panskura bazaar is the supply line of vegetables markets of Kolkata and its outskirts.
